Bio of the speaker:

Dr. Kim Ozano is the founder of the podcast ‘Connecting Citizens to Science’ @podcast_CCS and The Stop Collaborate and Listen Agency (SCL). The SCL Agency is a creative community engagement agency that specialises in innovative participatory and co-production approaches which place communities at the centre of action for change. Kim is a UK-based public health researcher and practitioner with more than 15 years’ experience of working in participatory research, education, management, commissioning and consultancy. She has designed, delivered and evaluated health projects and programmes across sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, Guatemala and the UK. Her PhD applied participatory action research with community health workers in Cambodia and she has worked within multidisciplinary consortiums at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine to deliver co-production research to tackle inequities in disease, health and wellbeing. She has applied different co-production research paradigms including ‘Community Based Participatory Research’, ‘Participatory Action Research’ and ‘Quality improvement’ cycles. Dr.Ozano is passionate about ensuring that the values and principles associated with participatory health research are meaningful and trustworthy through the establishment of equitable partnerships and embedded knowledge exchange. Her research and consultancy work has resulted in the development of multimedia, national strategy documents, policy briefs, training manuals, learning packs and journal articles related to power, participation and knowledge exchange.
